MRI SCAN OF LUMBOSACRAL SPINE RADIOLOGY REPORT

MRI SCAN OF LUMBOSACRAL SPINE

Multiplanar MR imaging of the lumbar spine was performed using a phased-array spine coil and large FOV.

FINDINGS:

The lumbar lordosis is maintained.

The alignment of the vertebrae is normal.

The marrow within the vertebrae reveals normal signal intensity.

The vertebral height appear normal.

No focal bony lesions noted.

Dessication of L3-L4, L4-L5 and L5-S1 intervertebral discs noted.

L1-L2: Diffuse disc bulge is noted indenting the left traversing nerve root. The right traversing nerve root appears normal. The spinal canal diameter measures- 15mm.

L2-L3: Diffuse disc bulge is noted indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root. The spinal canal diameter measures- 12.4 mm.

L3-L4: Diffuse disc bulge with right paracentral disc herniation is noted indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root. Bilateral lateral recess stenosis noted. The spinal canal diameter measures-11.2 mm.

L4-L5: Diffuse disc bulge is noted indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root. Bilateral lateral recess stenosis noted. The spinal canal diameter measures-10.2 mm.

L5-S1:Diffuse disc bulge is noted indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root. Bilateral lateral recess stenosis noted. The spinal canal diameter measures- 9.6 mm.

The lower end of the spinal cord, cauda equina and filum terminale do not reveal any abnormality.

No abnormality is detected in the prevertebral region. The vascular structures appear normal.

IMPRESSION:

  • Diffuse disc bulge at L1-L2 level indenting the left traversing nerve root.
  • Diffuse disc bulge at L2-L3 level indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root.
  • Diffuse disc bulge with right paracentral disc herniation L3-L4 level indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root. Bilateral lateral recess stenosis noted.
  • Diffuse disc bulge L4-L5 level indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root. Bilateral lateral recess stenosis noted.

Diffuse disc bulge L5-S1 level indenting the bilateral traversing nerve root. Bilateral lateral recess stenosis noted.
